[ODE] Proper use of Plane2D

I was studying the test_plane2d sample, when I saw the comment "hack Plane2D constraint error reduction here".
The Plane2D need this kind of adjust?
I'm designing a 2D physics-based game, and need to constrain the objects moviment in the XY axis (allways z == 0).Plane2D would be a good choice?
Or there is another good option?
Is there any other sample on how to use ODE in a 2D simulation?
I've searched the list, but haven't found a definitive answer...
