the disabling of cylinders was just prudent programming, not disturbing
other people's builds on e.g. exotic platforms.

the cylinder code is mature, so I don't think that there are people
who want to leave this out.

I would say: scrap the flag, but if you do: make sure that you also
update alle the docs/readme/wikis/whathaveyou.
