Which by your own admission isn't applicable to something like ODE.

Well, apparently when it comes to run-time exploitation of
MMX/SSE/SSE2/3DNOW!/this/that/the-other instructions, it pretty much does.
But we should also apparently avoid using the facility at all costs, because
Microsoft is Evil(tm).

Yeah, I don't get the connection either.
