[ODE] Wheel positions

Hi, Guys!
Small question. In car simulation I connect wheels with hinge2 joint to 
the body. Let's say, my car body dimensions are <width, height, length> 
(2.0, 1.0,2.0) / So, offset from the center of mass to put a wheel like 
(4.0, -0.6, 1.0) will make simulation very unstable. The reason is that 
I put my wheel to much to the side. So I wonder if someone can share his
(her) experience why it happen and how to get the best values for 
wheels?
