I am curious myself. I have a (nearly) working terrain using TriMesh.
Does anyone that has tried both have any advice on whether the ODE
hightmap is worth switching to? Is it much more accurate/faster, or is
it just easier to use? I was also wondering if it is particularly
difficult to make it use the y axis as 'up', instead of z.
