[ODE] Using ODE with own collision detection

Hi, 
 
I'm trying to use ODE (v0.035) with my own Collision Detection. A bowling
ball 
should run along the lane and then collide with the pins. Instead of running
along 
the line, the ball always penetrate the lane.  
The lane is an object with the bodyID NULL. The ball is a normal object with
some 
mass. 
On every collision I create one contactjoint and add it to a contactgroup,
this 
contactgroup is destroyed in every timestep. 
 
I use the same parameter in the dContact struct as in the file
test_boxstack.cpp, but 
the ball still penetrate the lane.  
I also took smaller time steps and increased the ERP, but nothing changed
the 
situation.  
How should I set the parameter to get a realistic simulation? 
Is one contactjoint enough? 
 
Hopefully someone can help me.
